- At the end of the 8/12 session, US stocks hit a historic peak when Pfizer started distributing vaccines in the UK, creating expectations for the economy to recover in the near future. The Dow Jones industrial average rose 104.09 points, or 0.4%, to close at 30,173.88 points. The 30-stock Dow index hit an intraday record of 30,246.22 points. The S&P 500 rose 0.3 percent to 3,702.25 points, the mark of which it closed above 3,700 points for the first time. Nasdaq Composite rose 0.5% to 12,582.77 points.
