The Nasdaq rose 0.6 percent, to close at a new high of 13,530.91 points, as Apple shares rose 3.7 percent. The Dow Jones industrial average fell 12.37 points to 31,176.01, after hitting a record in the previous session. The S&P 500 index rose about 0.1% to 3,853.07 points.
