At the end of the session, the S&P 500 dropped 0.8% to 3,870.29 points, after it jumped more than 2% on March 1 to record the strongest gain since June 2020. The Dow Jones lost 143.99 points (0.5%) to 31,391.52 points. The Nasdaq Composite fell 1.7% to 13,358.79.
