- US stocks flourished on Wednesday (April 21) to recover from 2 consecutive declining sessions, when investors flocked to stocks most sensitive to economic recovery. Closing Wednesday's session, the Dow Jones increased by 316.01 points (or 0.9%) to 34,137.31 points. The S&P 500 rose 0.9% to 4,173.42 points, while the Nasdaq Composite added 1.2% to 13,950.22. The small-cap Russell 2000 index jumped 2.4%, bringing the total climb in 2021 to more than 13%.
