- US stocks fell sharply on Monday (July 19) on concerns that a resurgence in the number of Covid-19 infections will stunt global economic growth. Selling increased during the session, and the Dow Jones had its worst session since October 2020. At the end of the session, the Dow Jones index dropped 725.81 points (2.1%) to 33,962.04 points with all 30 component stocks in red. The S&P 500 fell 1.6% to 4,258.49. The Nasdaq Composite Index lost 1.1% to 14,274.98 points, recording its fifth consecutive drop and its worst losing streak since October 2020.
