- US stocks rallied on Wednesday (July 21) as stocks continued to recover from the sell-off at the beginning of the week. Better-than-expected earnings reports from Dow Jones component companies Coca-Cola and Johnson & Johnson added to the upbeat sentiment. Closing Wednesday's session, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 286.01 points (or 0.83%) to 34,798.00 points. The index is less than 1% away from its all-time high. The S&P 500 index advanced 0.82% to 4,358.69. The Nasdaq Composite added 0.92% to 14,631.95.

- Last week, the Fubon FTSE Vietnam ETF continued to strongly buy stocks in the top 10. Prominent among them was the net buying of 4.4m of HPG, 1.6m of MSN and 2.7m of VRE. This move pushed the total weight of the top 10 stocks in the portfolio to 75.43%, higher than 72% a week ago. In the past two weeks alone, this Taiwanese fund has disbursed more than 2,000b VND into Vietnamese securities.

- Reuters reported that Vietnam has produced the first test batch for the Covid-19 vaccine Sputnik V developed by Russia, Russian Direct Investment Fund RDIF and Vietnamese pharmaceutical company Vabiotech said on July 21. RDIF and Vabiotech said that the first vaccine samples taken from the production batch will be shipped to the Gamaleya Center in Russia for quality control.
