- US stocks fell back for the first time in 6 sessions on Tuesday (July 27), before some large-cap technology companies announced their second-quarter earnings reports. At the end of the session, only The S&P 500 fell nearly 0.5% to 4,401.46 points, pressured by a decline in shares in the consumer goods, technology and energy sectors. The index fell as much as 1.1% at the session low. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 85.79 points (0.2%) to 35,058.52 points, after falling 266 points at the beginning of the session. The Nasdaq Composite Index fell 1.2% to 14,660.58 points.
