- US stocks continued to gain on Tuesday (August 24) after a broad-based rally on news that US regulators had fully approved Pfizer-BioNTech's Covid-19 vaccine. Ending the session, the Dow Jones index inched up 30.55 points (equivalent to nearly 0.1%) to 35,366.26 points. The S&P 500 index gained 0.1% to close a new record high of 4,486.23 points. The Nasdaq Composite added 0.5% to 15,019.80, also notching a new record high.

- The World Bank's August report on Vietnam's economy forecasts that Vietnam's economy is expected to grow about 4.8% in 2021 and will reach a pre-pandemic GDP growth rate of between 6.5 and 7% from 2022. This forecast is revised down from the 6.8% forecast for 2021 in the previous Review Report issued in December 2020. This forecast is also lower than the Government's 6% growth target in 2021.
