- US stocks turned slightly lower on Tuesday (August 31), as the S&P 500 ended its seventh straight month of gains just below all-time highs. Ending the session, the Dow Jones dropped 39.11 points (or 0.11%) to 35,360.73 points. The S&P 500 lost 0.13% to 4,522.68 and the Nasdaq Composite was down just 0.04% to 15,259.20.

- The Vietnam Purchasing Managers' Index fell to 40.2 points in August from 45.1 points in July. This shows the health of the manufacturing sector declined the most since April 2020. Nowaday, business conditions have declined for three consecutive months.

- In August, foreign investors turned negative again after a very strong net buying in the previous month. Specifically, foreign capital inflows bought more than 752 million shares, worth 34,500 billion dong, while selling 870.4 million shares, worth 41,090 billion dong. Total net selling volume was at 118 million shares, equivalent to a net selling value of 6,586 billion dong.
