- US stocks on Tuesday (September 21) attempted to recover from Monday's sell-off, but failed as the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell for most of the session and closed in the red. Ending the session, the Dow Jones dropped 50.63 points (0.15%) to 33,919.84 points. The S&P 500 index fell 0.1% to 4,354.19. Meanwhile, the Nasdaq Composite Index advanced 0.2% to 14,746.40 points as investors bought into some big tech stocks like Apple during the sell-off.
