- US stocks rallied on Thursday as lawmakers reached an agreement to raise the debt ceiling in the short term, according to US Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer. At the end of the session, the Dow Jones index rose 337.95 points (or 1%) to 34,754.94 points. The S&P 500 added 0.8% to 4,399.76, and the Nasdaq Composite added 1.1% to 14,654. Thursday's rally helped the major indexes to record green for the week.
