- US stocks fell to start a new week on Monday (October 11), as investors weighed the steep climb in oil prices, concerns about the economy and upcoming third-quarter results of major companies. At the end of the session, the Dow Jones fell 250.19 points (or 0.7%) to 34,496.06 points. The index gained more than 200 points at the highest level of the session. The S&P 500 index lost 0.7% to 4,361.19. The Nasdaq Composite Index fell 0.6% to 14,486.20 points
