- The S&P 500 Index rose for a sixth straight session on Thursday (November 4) as investors relaxed over the Federal Reserve's patient stance on raising interest rates. Stronger-than-expected economic data also supported market sentiment. Closing the session, the S&P 500 gained 0.4% to close a new record high of 4,680.06 points. The Nasdaq Composite added 0.8 percent to close at an all-time high of 15,940.31. Meanwhile, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 33.35 points (or nearly 0.1%) to 36,124.23 points from a record high.
