US stocks closed a volatile session on Thursday (January 6) in the red, following a sharp sell-off in technology stocks in the previous session. Ending the session, the Dow Jones fell 170.64 points (or 0.4%) to 36,236.47 points. The S&P 500 index fell 0.1% to 4,696.05 points. The Nasdaq Composite Index lost 0.1% to 15,080.90 points. The Nasdaq Composite has dropped 4% in the previous two sessions.

At the end of yesterday's session, market liquidity was high with the total matched value increasing by 5% compared to the previous session and reaching 38,912 billion dong, of which, the matching value on HoSE only increased by 8% to 33,030 billion dong. Foreign investors continued to be net sellers of more than 270 billion dong on HoSE.
