US stocks fell sharply on Tuesday (January 18), as government bond yields soared to new highs and after Goldman Sachs reported disappointing business results. Ending the session, the Dow Jones fell 543.34 points (equivalent to 1.5%) to 35,368.47 points. The S&P 500 fell 1.8% to 4,577.34, and the Nasdaq Composite lost 2.6% to 14,506.90, its lowest level in three months.

The US provides more than $36 million in aid to more than 5,000 small businesses in Vietnam. The project, implemented over a five-year period, aims to provide technical and financial support to thousands of Vietnamese small businesses that are growing and improving productivity.

The Vietnamese stock market is about to welcome another foreign fund from Taiwan (China) called Jih Sun Vietnam Opportunity Fund (JSV Fund), advised by VinaCapital. On January 10, JSV Fund will start to raise capital for investment in the Vietnamese market. The size according to the par value of the issue is about NT$6 billion (about VND5,000 billion).
