The S&P 500 fell below 4,200 for the first time since May after Alphabet's disappointing quarterly results, when the stock plunged more than 9% due to disappointing results from its cloud business. Other technology stocks such as Apple and Amazon dropped 1.3% and 5.6%, respectively. As expected, Amazon will announce its third quarter business results after the close of trading on Thursday.
