Oil prices settled lower Wednesday, following an unexpected build in U.S. crude inventories and Chinese factory activity weighed on the market. Even so, oil prices still posted the first monthly gain since September as the U.S. and Iran stand on the brink of a more direct confrontation in the Middle East.
