U.S. stocks tumbled to a lower close on Wednesday after hotter-than-expected inflation data threw cold water on hopes that the Fed would begin cutting interest rates as early as June. Consumer price index increased 0.4% in March and increased 3.5% yoy, biggest gain in six months. Core CPI advanced 0.4% and increased 3.8% yoy. Most megacap growth stocks slipped with the exception of Nvidia Inc, which bucked the trend by rising 2%.

The dollar was firm on Thursday after hotter-than-expected U.S. inflation data. Oil prices rallied after three sons of a Hamas leader were killed in an Israeli airstrike in the Gaza Strip, fuelling worries that ceasefire talks could stall. Another concern is that continued conflict could drag in countries, particularly Hamas-backer Iran, the third-largest producer in the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
