US stocks plummeted on Thursday (May 23), with the Dow Jones recording its worst session of 2024, as the rally following Nvidia's earnings report failed to boost the market. Manufacturing and services data in May were both higher than forecast, negatively affecting the upward momentum on Thursday, as investors reduced expectations that the US Federal Reserve will lower interest rates in September.
