U.S. stocks ended higher on last Friday, extending their biggest weekly percentage gains of the year as worries of an economic downturn eased and investors focused on the Jackson Hole Economic Symposium this week. The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq notched their seventh straight session of gains, as stocks recouped losses from a tailspin two weeks ago.

Oil prices eased in early Asian trading on Monday as fears of weaker demand in top oil importer China weighed on market sentiment. Gold prices soared to an all-time high on growing expectations for an interest-rate cut from the Federal Reserve in September, and as tensions in the Middle East bolstered demand for bullion.
