The DJIA notched a record high close on Thursday in mixed trading following robust U.S. economic data. The U.S. economy grew faster than initial estimates due to strong consumer spending, the Commerce Department reported. GDP increased at a 3.0% annualized rate last quarter. That was an upward revision from the 2.8% rate reported last month.

Oil prices were steady in early trading on Friday as investors weighed supply concerns in the Middle East against signs of weakened demand. More than half of Libya's oil production, or about 700,000 barrels per day, was offline on Thursday and exports were halted at several ports following a standoff between rival political factions.
