U.S. stocks rallied on Friday to close out a strong week on optimism over the economy's health and path of interest rates as investors braced for a slew of policy changes under the incoming Trump administration. The S&P 500 and Dow Industrials registered their biggest weekly percentage gains since early November and the Nasdaq recorded its best since early December.

The dollar was on Monday as investors waited for an expected flurry of policy announcements in the first hours of Donald Trump's second presidency. Oil prices settled lower on Friday but notched their fourth straight weekly gain, as the latest U.S. sanctions on Russian energy trade added to worries about oil supply disruptions.
