Stocks jumped Monday on optimism that President Donald Trump may hold back from implementing some of his wide-ranging tariff plans and so the U.S. could skirt an economic slowdown from a protracted trade war. Donald Trump said that he “may give a lot of countries breaks” on the reciprocal tariffs, which are set to take effect April 2. Shares of Tesla, which have fallen nine straight weeks, were up nearly 12%, adding to their Friday gains. Meta Platforms and Nvidia, each climbed more than 3%.

Oil prices gained 2% on Monday as U.S. President Donald Trump said he will impose a 25% tariff on countries that buy oil and gas from Venezuela.

VN-Index increased strongly in the first session of the week thanks to the support of Vingroup stocks. The three Vingroup stocks were the focus with VIC hitting the ceiling, VHM +6.3%, VRE +3.8%. Proprietary traders continued to net buy VND118 billion, mainly including E1VFVN30 VND81 billion, HAG VND39 billion.
