All three major U.S. stock indexes posted sharp declines, wiping out most of the previous session’s gains after President Trump announced a tariff hike to 145% on imports from China. However, the market remained deep in the red despite the positive news that U.S. inflation in March had cooled to 2.4%, down 0.4 percentage points from the previous month.
