U.S. stocks tumbled on Monday (July 7) after President Donald Trump sent letters to multiple countries outlining new import tariff rates. According to the disclosed letters, tariffs are set at varying levels: Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, and Tunisia will face a 25% tariff; South Africa and Bosnia 30%; Indonesia 32%; Bangladesh and Serbia 35%; Cambodia and Thailand 36%; while Laos and Myanmar will be subject to the highest rate of 40%.
