U.S. stock index futures were little changed on Monday evening as investors stayed on the sidelines awaiting further economic signals from Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell’s speech at the Jackson Hole Symposium and a series of earnings reports from major retailers scheduled for release this week. The main Wall Street indexes traded within a narrow range, with attention also focused on President Donald Trump’s efforts to mediate between Russia and Ukraine.

Global crude oil prices jumped nearly 1% overnight after Ukraine attacked Russia’s Druzhba oil pipeline, disrupting crude flows from Russia to Hungary. As one of the world’s largest oil transport networks, this strike could trigger another energy shock for Europe.

Proprietary trading desks of securities firms recorded their fourth consecutive net buying session on August 18, with a net value of VND 327 billion, led by FPT (VND 67 billion), HPG (VND 59 billion), STB (VND 45 billion), and ACB (VND 42 billion).
