U.S. stocks rallied on Wednesday night (August 28) after upbeat Q2 GDP data. According to the U.S. Department of Commerce, GDP in Q2 2025 grew 3.3% year-over-year, exceeding both the initial estimate of 3.0% and the Dow Jones forecast of 3.1%. Additionally, Nvidia’s strong earnings report boosted chipmakers, helping the S&P 500 surpass the 6,500-point mark for the first time ever.

On the morning of August 28, domestic gold prices surged to new records. SJC gold bars reached 128 million VND/tael. DOJI listed SJC gold at VND126 million (buying) and VND128 million (selling), while Bao Tin Minh Chau posted prices at 125.8–128 million VND/tael. Gold rings and other jewelry also saw strong gains.

VN-Index managed to close up more than 8 points despite strong foreign net selling for the second consecutive session. Proprietary continued net selling of VND219 billion yesterday, with the heaviest sales in MWG (VND76 billion), TPB (VND48 billion), GMD (VND43 billion), and SSI (VND35 billion). On the other hand, they net bought HPG (VND61 billion), GEX (VND57 billion), and CTG (VND41 billion).
