US stocks rose as oil prices turned lower and investors expected the US and Iran to reach a ceasefire agreement. The Associated Press, citing unnamed officials in Islamabad, reported that Iran had received a 15-point proposal from the United States to end the war. Iranian state media also reported on March 25 that the Middle Eastern country would reject the U.S. ceasefire proposal, instead offering a five-point plan that would include giving Tehran control of the Strait of Hormuz.

World gold prices turned lower in the morning session on Thursday (March 26) after rising nearly 2% the previous day, supported by a decline in oil prices that helped ease inflation concerns and lower expectations of interest rate hikes, although uncertainty around the Middle East conflict still exists.
