US stocks continue to be under pressure in the context of rising oil prices. The decline was mainly in the technology sector, while sectors such as finance and utilities were positive. Federal Reserve (Fed) Chairman Jerome Powell said that even if energy prices rise, he still sees inflation expectations "stable in the short term". The yield on 10-year Treasury bonds fell after the above comments.

World gold prices were mixed in the morning session on Tuesday (31/3) after rising for the second consecutive session the previous day thanks to increased safe-haven demand, although prices are still on track to establish a month of declines as the Middle East conflict pushed expectations of global inflation and interest rates higher.
