In contrast to Wall Street's galloping momentum, Asian markets largely declined as investor optimism about the conflict in the Middle East subsided. The speaker of Iran's parliament said that Israel's cessation of attacks on Lebanon is a key condition for negotiations between the United States and Iran to begin. The next round of direct talks between the US and Iran could take place "by the end of next week".
