US stocks turned lower in the early session of the week as investors worried that the US and Iran would find it difficult to reach a long-term peace agreement in the short term. Iran says it is closing in on a deal with Oman to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, but Tehran continues to refuse to negotiate directly with the U.S. until certain conditions are met. Intel was the stock that put great pressure on the market during the session when it fell 4% after announcing that the company would issue $15 billion worth of common shares.

Crude oil prices continued to rise in the morning session on Tuesday (August 11) after Iran and the United States made demands for compensation to each other, reducing the prospects of reaching an agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
